What started as a hobby some 20 years ago has now grown to be one of the biggest breeding centres of cranes ( Gruidae) and flamingos Phoenicopteridae) in the world namely:
VD Feesten's Breeding farm.

It is established on the former countryhouse of the boardingschool St. Louis, situated between Weert and Swartbroek, and covers about 30 acres.

The core business of  VD Feesten's Breeding Farm is breeding Cranes, among which several rare species are threatened to become extinct, like the Japanese Crane ( Grus japonensis), the Black-necked Crane ( Grus nigricollis), the White-naped Crane ( Grus vipio) etc., and not to be forgotten the Caribbean flamingoPhoenicopterus ruber ruber ) the species with which we made one of the best breeding results in the world, in our park.

Further more there are various other birds and animals such as ibises, avocats, deer, wallabies, kangaroos, lamas and alpacas that are also pretty fertile.
